Stock transfers: what Stockie does today

Transfers are created and managed in Shopify. Stockie mirrors them, and adds reporting and exports on top.

What Stockie does not do is decide them for you: it does not suggest transfers or move stock between your locations. Purchase orders bring stock in from suppliers; they do not move it around once it is yours.

What it does give you is the information a transfer decision needs, and a proper record of the transfers you have made.

What you can do instead

Per-location forecasting shows you where stock is needed and where it is sitting. Switch the location selector on Forecast & replenishment  between your locations and you can see one location below its reorder point while another holds more than it will sell.

That comparison is the transfer decision. Once you have made it, create the transfer in your Shopify admin.

Your transfers, mirrored in Stockie

Transfers  lists every transfer from your Shopify store. Updates arrive on their own, and the page shows when it last synced; Sync now refreshes on demand if you have just created one and do not want to wait. Create in Shopify takes you where transfers are actually made.

Open a transfer and you can Export PDF or Export CSV, or View in Shopify. One still in transit also offers Receive in Shopify.

There is a report too. Reports → Transfers  has two tabs, Transfers and Transfer line items, so you can look at whole transfers or at the individual products inside them, filter, and export.

A transfer in flight is not invisible to your forecast

Stockie reads incoming inventory from Shopify, and a Shopify transfer raises the incoming quantity at the destination.

The receiving location shows the stock as incoming, and reorder suggestions there net it off - which stops Stockie suggesting you buy what is already on its way from your own warehouse.

What this means across locations

A few consequences worth planning around:

• Reorder suggestions are per location. A location short of stock is suggested a purchase order, even where another location could cover it. Stockie will not propose moving stock instead.
• Min/max levels are per location too, so a level set at your warehouse does not restrain what is suggested for your shop.
• The forecast does not link the two ends. Moving stock between locations changes both locations' available inventory, and the next forecast run picks that up, but the forecast itself does not tie the decrease at one to the increase at the other. The transfer record in Transfers  is where the two ends are held together.
