Giving staff access to Stockie
Access to Stockie is controlled in Shopify, not inside Stockie. A staff member who cannot see the app has not been given permission to it in your Shopify admin.
There are no roles or permissions to set inside Stockie.
Stockie does keep a Staff members list, under Settings → Adjustments , but it does not control access. It is a list of names so that stocktakes and adjustments can record who did them. Adding someone there gives them nothing, and removing them takes nothing away.
You can also add a name without going to Settings: the Created by and Adjusted by fields offer Select or create a staff member, so you can add someone as you go.
Giving someone access
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Users and permissions , open the staff member, find the app permissions section, tick Stockie, and save.
Shopify moves these screens from time to time. If the layout does not match, Shopify's own documentation on staff permissions is the authority.
The staff member may need to log out and back in before the app appears.
What they can see once granted
The whole app.
Access is all or nothing. A staff member with permission to Stockie sees everything: forecasting, notifications, purchase orders, costs, stocktakes and settings.
With one qualification. Stockie acts as the person using it, so where an action writes back to Shopify it still respects what that person is allowed to do there. Someone without permission to edit products in Shopify cannot use Stockie to change a product's price, for example. Their Shopify permissions still apply.
There is no read-only or limited access
Stockie has no scoped roles. You cannot give someone access to only stocktakes, only receiving, or a single location, and there is no view-only permission.
If you want shop-floor staff who can count stock but not see cost or supplier information, that is not something Stockie can do. It cannot hide part of the app from someone who can open it.
The one lever beyond app access is their Shopify permissions, which limit what they can change rather than what they can see.
Where that matters, some merchants keep counting and receiving with a smaller group and give the wider team no access, rather than opening the whole app up.
You can still see who did what
If the worry is accountability rather than secrecy, the record may be enough on its own.
Stockie names the person against the work. A purchase order's timeline reads in plain language - "Merrilyn received inventory" - and stocktakes and adjustments carry the name of whoever ran them.
Two caveats. Anything done before this was added shows without a name rather than guessing, and so does anything Stockie did on its own, which is marked as System instead. Neither is attributed to a person who did not do it.
They still cannot see it
Work down these:
- Was the permission saved? Re-open the staff member in Shopify and confirm Stockie is still ticked.
- Is it the right account? People with more than one staff account often have the app on one and are logged into the other.
- Have they logged out and back in? Permissions are picked up at login.
- Are they a collaborator rather than staff? Collaborator accounts have their own permission model in Shopify and may need it granted separately.
