The sales performance report

Available on: Pro and above.

Reports → Sales performance  analyses sales trends and performance across your variants, so you can see what is moving.

What it shows

Your variants ranked by how they have sold, which is the quickest way to see your best and worst performers side by side.

Each row carries:

Column
Gross units sold Everything sold before refunds
Refunded units What came back
Net units sold Gross less refunds, and what the table sorts on by default
Gross revenue and Net revenue The same split in money
Average daily sales Net units divided by the days in your window
Sales trend How this window compares with the one before it

SKU is shown too, and Barcode can be switched on if that is how you identify stock.

Filter by supplier, vendor, product type, category, tag or collection to narrow it to the part of the catalogue you are asking about.

What the trend column is comparing

Sales trend measures this window against the window immediately before it, of the same length. On the last 30 days, it compares those 30 days with the 30 before them.

So widening the window changes the comparison as well as the numbers. A product can look like it is falling over 30 days and climbing over 180.

A variant that sold nothing in the previous window has nothing to compare against, so it shows as new rather than as a percentage.

You choose a window, not dates

The report opens on the last 30 days, and you can widen that to 60, 90, 180 or 365.

What you cannot do is pick the dates themselves. Every option is a window ending today, so you cannot point it at last November to see how a season went.

For questions about a specific past period, use Shopify's own sales reporting, which does support arbitrary date ranges.

Do not confuse this with the lookback period in forecasting settings, which does take a custom date range - that is a forecasting input, not a report.

It is always current

Sales performance reads your sales as they stand, so it does not wait for a forecast run. Open it and the numbers are up to date. See report freshness for which reports do depend on the forecast.
