Forecasting new products with no sales history
Available on: Pro and above.
A product you have just added shows No sales on the Forecast & replenishment page, where its reorder point would be, and it is not suggested for reorder yet. Forecasting works from how fast a product sells, and until it has sold there is nothing to measure.
Seeing all of them at once
Filter Reorder in by No sales data to list every product in this position.
When it gets numbers
As soon as the product records a sale within your lookback period, the next forecast run gives it a velocity, a reorder point and a suggested quantity. Forecasts run overnight, or straight away when you press Run forecast - see The forecast is a snapshot.
Early numbers move around
A velocity built on a few weeks of sales changes quickly as more history comes in, so the first suggestions for a new product are less settled than for one you have sold for a year.
Your lookback period also plays a part. Stockie only discounts days it watched a product run out, so a window stretching back before the product existed counts those months as days it did not sell. On a 365-day lookback, a product with six weeks of history reads well below its real pace; a shorter lookback on that product measures only the weeks that happened. See Configuring demand settings.
If it is not on the page at all
That is a different situation from having no sales. It usually means the product is not active in Shopify, or sits outside your forecast scope - see Scoping the forecast.
