Multiple suppliers per product

Yes - a product can be linked to as many suppliers as you buy it from. Dual sourcing is supported.

One of them is the primary supplier, and a product has at most one. The rest are secondary, and you can order from them at any time.

Linking a product to several suppliers

There is no single screen listing a product's suppliers. Each supplier keeps its own product list, so you link the product from each supplier in turn:

1. Go to Suppliers → [supplier] → Manage → Product assignment .
2. Add the product, either individually or through a condition that matches it.
3. Repeat for the other suppliers.

A product assigned by condition can end up on several suppliers without you doing anything, if more than one supplier's conditions match it.

Choosing which one is primary

Set it from the supplier you want to be primary, not from the product. Open that supplier, go to Linked products, select the products it should be primary for, and choose Set as primary. It works on a selection, so you can promote a whole range at once.

That same list shows you where you stand: every product carries a Primary or Secondary badge for the supplier you are looking at.

What the primary supplier changes

The primary supplier is the one Stockie treats as the default source for that product.

It matters most in forecasting. Lead time, safety stock and restock to can all be set per supplier, and a product takes those values from its primary supplier only. A lead time set on a secondary supplier does not affect that product's reorder point, even though you can order from them freely.

So set the primary to whoever you normally buy from, and expect forecasting to plan around their lead time. See Configuring reordering settings.

Deleting a supplier moves the primary automatically. If you delete a product's primary supplier, the oldest of its remaining suppliers takes over. The product keeps working, but it starts forecasting on the new primary's lead time - so a tidy-up of your supplier list can move reorder points without anyone deciding to. Worth checking the products afterwards if the suppliers you removed were primary for much.

Ordering from any of them

You are not restricted to the primary when raising a purchase order. Create the order against whichever supplier you are buying from, and add the product as normal.
