Getting set up: your first session in Stockie

Stockie watches your Shopify inventory and tells you what to reorder before you run out. Depending on your plan it either alerts you at thresholds you set, or forecasts demand and calculates the reorder points for you. On Pro Plus it also raises the purchase orders, records the adjustments and runs the stocktakes.

What already happened

Installing Stockie synced your products, variants and locations across, and brought your sales history with them. There is nothing to import.

Installing does not give Stockie permission to change anything - it can read your store and calculate, nothing more, until you grant write access. See What Stockie writes to your Shopify store.

Which Stockie you are using

Your plan decides what Stockie does, so your first session depends on it:

Pro Plus includes everything on Pro, so the Pro section below applies to you as well. See Classic mode vs Smart mode for how the plans differ.

Every section stays in your navigation whatever your plan. Opening one your plan does not cover shows you what it does rather than an error, so a section being visible is not a promise it is switched on.

If you are on Pro Plus

Suppliers come first, because a purchase order is raised against one. Whether your Shopify Vendor field holds brands or the businesses you buy from changes how suppliers are best set up, and it is much harder to unpick later - see Suppliers vs Shopify vendors and Setting up suppliers.

A supplier's lead time beats your store default, and it is the figure that most changes what Stockie suggests, so it is worth adding as each supplier goes in.

Purchase orders have a short setup the first time you open them, and it includes one choice that is hard to change afterwards: whether orders write inventory to Shopify or track orders only. See How purchase orders update Shopify inventory before choosing.

From there, the forecast can build an order for you. Suggested quantities go straight onto a draft purchase order, which you review before anything is sent - see Creating purchase orders from your forecast.

Adjustments and stocktakes ask for permission to change your Shopify inventory the first time you open them, and are ready to use after that.

If you are on Pro

You get the forecast, and notifications can fire on calculated reorder points instead of fixed numbers.

The forecast lives at Forecast & replenishment . The first one has to run before there is anything to look at, so your first visit may involve a short wait. See How Stockie forecasting works.

Three defaults turn a sales rate into a recommendation, at Forecast & replenishment → Manage settings → Reordering :

• Lead time - days between ordering and stock arriving
• Safety stock - days of buffer on top of forecast demand
• Restock to - days of cover you want after a delivery lands

All three can be overridden per supplier and per product later.

Restock to starts at 90 days in the setup wizard, which covers about three months of stock. You can change it whenever you like. See Configuring reordering settings.

If you are on Free, Basic or Advanced

Stockie alerts you when stock falls to thresholds you set. Your first session is a notification: the products it watches, the thresholds, who receives it and when, then a test send to check it arrives. See Creating notifications.
